Intro to Navigation - beginner sessions. 28th Feb & 7th March.

PAPO are organising two Navigation sessions especially for young people, but all are invited. This is an introduction to basic navigation skills for navigation sports like orienteering, adventure racing and rogaining.

Saturday 28 February
Time: 2pm – 5pm
Location: Orua Paeroa – meet end of Shirley Boys High School car park off Travis Rd.
Entry: $2. Pay on the day for map printing costs
Enter by: Thursday 26 February 11pm - pre-entries only as we need to allocate groups and maps.

Saturday 7 March
Time: 2pm – 5pm
Location: Halswell Quarry – meet Crocodile MTB car park off Cashmere road
Entry: $2. Pay on the day for map printing costs

What you will be learning:
Basic skills required for all these navigation sports – you will have fun while learning to:
• Orientate your map correctly;
• Understand basic map colours and common symbols;
• Thumb your map;
• Follow line features;
• Make decisions at intersections and control points.
