Score OY. Orton Bradley

A range of orienteering courses available, with something to suit everyone, from beginners to experts. It includes easy courses for those who are new to the sport and would like to give it a go. All welcome! Event suitable for the whole family. 

This event uses Score event format for most course options. i.e. your time is fixed and you choose which controls to visit and what order within the time limit. The easier courses (White and Yellow) will be traditional orienteering courses with controls in a specified order.

This event is part of the PAPO OY series, with OY points awarded to PAPO club members.

Pre-entries are preferred for all PAPO events. Member rates will apply to pre-entries.

Limited enter on the day will be available. Enter on the day will be charged at non-member prices for all entries.

Courses:

6 course options will be available, as per the usual 6 grades at an OY event:

• Red Long. 75 minute score (rogaine) event with controls at Red navigation level.
• Red Medium. 60 minute score (rogaine) event with controls at Red navigation level.
• Red Short. 45 minute score (rogaine) event with controls at Red navigation level.
• Orange. 45 minute score (rogaine) event with controls at Orange navigation level.
• Yellow course. (Follow controls in order - not score format).
• White course. (Follow controls in order - not score format).

If you are new to orienteering, we recommend entering the White (families and children) or Yellow (adults) course for your first event.

Standard PAPO costs apply see https://papo.org.nz/faq/costs.  (Note there is also a Orton Bradly park entry cost, see below).

All entries to be paid by credit/debit card at time of entry via the entry system (EnterO), we no longer accept bank transfers for event entries.
Helpers on the day and PAPO members paying with VIP points can choose the VIP points option when paying.

Travel and Parking

Travel to Charteris Bay and enter Orton Bradley Park.
There is a park entry fee of $5 per adult, $1 per child, maximum $10 per car, please pay at the gate on entry.
Event registration and start area is adjacent to parking.

Event timetable:

Registration: From 10am
Start times: 10.30am – 12.30am. No pre-planning time! Your time starts when you get the map!
Course closure: 2.30pm
Electronic Punching: SI Air+ will be turned on for this event, bring your SI Air card if you have one. For those without an SI Air card (and anyone hiring a SI card) punch in the usual manner.
